Can I pay for the Anthropic API with UPI?

Not directly, as of 14 October 2026: the Anthropic API bills prepaid credit in US dollars to a card. Anthropic’s rupee pricing applies to the Claude Pro and Max subscriptions, not the API. ScaleMax sells Claude API access you can pay for with UPI in rupees.

Is ScaleMax the official Anthropic API?

No. ScaleMax is an independent API provider and is not affiliated with Anthropic. It serves Claude models through the same Messages API shape, so Anthropic SDKs and Claude Code work with a base URL change.

Do I need to change my Claude model IDs?

No. Use the same Claude model IDs, such as claude-opus-5-5. Only the base URL and the key change.
